massage hallux valgus

Massage of Hallux Valgus is performed carefully, without unnecessary physical effort, as the foot has anatomical features.It can be a general reinforcement or it can have an effect directly on the deformation zone.

Preparation

Before starting the massage of hallux valgus, you need to prepare the manipulation in advance, which consists of several stages.

For adults, this is:

  • Steam your feet in hot water with an infusion of an herbal blend of sage, pine needle extract, chamomile and oak bark.Medicinal components of plants easily penetrate the heated dermis and have an anti-inflammatory and tonic effect.
  • Application of an emollient containing shark oil or laurel oil to the foot and big toe area, which warms and nourishes the deep layers of the dermis.

For children with anatomical pathology:

  • light rubbing with the palm, then more intensively (with the ribs of the palm) on the cervical spine, lower back;
  • warming the skin and muscles of the thighs, legs and feet with gentle circular movements to make them more flexible for the main massage.

After the manipulations, the massage treatments will be comfortable, painless and more effective.

Technique

Despite the fact that the general techniques - stroking, rubbing, tapping, pressing, massage foot valgus in children, procedures differ from adults.

For children, experts advise starting with the neck and back;in adults, all manipulations are directed to the area around the lump, which is characteristic of the pathology (but not to the growth itself), as well as to the legs.

In adults

Hallux valgus massage is performed independently as follows:

  • work on the area around the protruding joint with circular movements of varying intensity;
  • the pad of the thumb is warmed, the joint is completed with small turns to the sides;
  • With strong grasping and pressing movements, we feel and carefully press the joints of each finger.

This is followed by a non-touch massage, you need:

  • move your toes up and down;
  • make a fan - the toes turn to the side and converge;
  • grab a small ball with your toes and move it sideways;
  • Place your foot on the needle roller and roll it with gentle pressure.

These exercises relieve inflammation and pain in deformed joints and help strengthen muscles thanks to increased blood flow.

In children

The massage of children with foot curvature is performed extremely carefully and only in a lying position to avoid further stress on the musculoskeletal system:

  1. The child is laid on his stomach so that the legs are under the work surface, and the spine is worked with up and down movements, then in the direction of the armpit by grasping the sides.
  2. They go down to the sacrum and buttocks, caressing in circular motions and working crosswise on these zones.
  3. Massage the back surfaces of the thighs with stroking movements from the knees, then thoroughly knead these areas with more intense movements.
  4. The flat valgus foot and the heels are intensively rubbed in all directions, then the skin is gently shaken in the area of the feet, without pinching.
  5. Each finger is intensively massaged, with gentle stretching along its entire length.
  6. We work on our feet with circular movements from the toes to the heel, drawing a figure of eight.
  7. We turn the child on his back, place a support under his knees, and repeat the exercises on the front surface of the legs.

Hallux valgus massage in children, when the heel bends inwards or outwards in addition to flat feet, is effective with timely and regular treatment.
